Culture & History 2 (ARC 60203)

 

This module is the continuation of Culture & History 1. Through this, we are to understand the different design and construction technology that had and still is continuously evolving. We are to analyse the works of previous master architect of various eras and understand the concept behind their designs.

Project : Precedent Studies

This project is separated into 2 part :

Part (a) : Presentation Board

In this project, we are to work in a group of 5 to produce a presentation board regarding our chosen master architect, Tadao Ando's work, the Azuma House. Analytical ideas and concepts of the house is extracted and documented.

Part (b) : Analytical Essay

This is a continuation from the previous project. We are to chose a single topic out of 5 to conduct our analysis. I have chosen the facade of the Azuma house as my topic. As as comparison, the Koshino House of the same architect is used to compare key feature and ideas used in both houses.

Reflection

Through this module, I have learned and understood the evolution of building design, and also various styles from different master architect.
