Design Studio 2 (ARC 1126)
This is a continuation from design studio 1. The main emphasis of this studio is "user and context". We are to learn from precedents, master architect, analyse and interpret their work in to abstraction models through the understanding of their key features. We are also to understand the surrounding contexts to further understand the details in a structure.
Project 1 : Famous People, Familiar Faces - Diagrammatic Abstraction
This is a group project, we in a group of 5 are to study the works of master architects and extract their traits and key features. Our selected architect is Tadao Ando and one of his earlier work, Azuma House. We are to create abstraction models to represent all his ideas in the Azuma House which we have analysed and extracted.

Project 2 Building + Nature
This project consists of 2 parts :
2(a) Picnic Pavilion
In this project, we are to travel to Port Dickson and analyse a specific site for placing our Picnic Pavilion. The full site analysis is to be presented once returning to campus. Our chosen site is on a slope of a hill.
Before we begin designing the picnic pavilion, we are to select a character and identify a key point from the previous project. Our chosen character is David Attenborough, and the site and picnic pavilion is design to best suite his taste. Our chosen keywords are blending, raw, and light & shadow, these keywords are derived from the concepts of the Azuma House.
Mood Board - Client Profile
Project 2(b) Retreat House
This is a continuation of project 2(a), using the same character. We are to further explore the idea on the picnic pavilion into a retreat house. We are to understand the spatial requirements and to provide spaces which fulfil our character's needs.
Reflection
Though this is a tough subject, with idea developments after idea developments, I've understood that everything we do must have a meaning, its not just about the aesthetics.
