BUILDING CONSTRUCTION 1

Building Construction 1 (ARC 1523)

This subject, introduces us with the basic knowledge of building construction. All the details in how to construct a building and also all the rules and regulations.

Project 1 : Experiencing Construction. 

In project 1, we are to analyse a site of our choosing. We are to work in a group of 8 on this assignment. We are to visit a site and record the on site data. As a group, we have to analyse and compile all the data recorded regarding the construction detail into a report.

Project 2 : Construction Detail & Specification

This project is related to the final project for studio 2. We are to understand how timber and steel structures work, and to use the specifications from our studio 2's retreat house, thus make a detailed analytical documentation of how wood and steel structure works.

Reflection

Through this module, I have experienced and visited an active construction site. I've also understood the basic principles of how a structure is built. I've also gained the knowledge of basic detail drawing and documentation.
