Project 1 : Furniture for an Elderly

In project 1, we are required to design a furniture intended for the elderly based on an in-depth study of our client. We first went to an elderly home and conducted an interview, understanding their needs and difficulties in conducting daily activities. My partner and I have decided on designing a ergonomic personal kitchen station for our client.

In this assignment, I've come to understand the inter-related environmental and social needs. Understanding my client's needs and difficulties, while maintaining a connection in design to the site.

Project 2 : Centre for the Elderly

Project 2 requires a design of an elderly centre in a suburban area, in relation to site topography and vegetation and socio-cultural events. We were to conduct a site visit and measure it, come up with a poetic theme, and finally a final design proposal of the elderly centre. We were to follow a few guidelines such as, design solutions that reduce environmental impact utilising clustered spatial typology and passive energy, while merging harmoniously with nature and the site, and provide the best of experiences for users.

In this final assignment,  I've come to further understand the need and requirements of the elderly while designing the centre. Passive green designs are incorporated as well as a clustered layout, social interaction and analysis of the site was also included.
