Project 1 Preliminary Study
In this assignment, we were to make an in-depth site analysis on Site A and Site B which are located at Jalan Tun HS Lee and Jalan Petaling respectively. The site analysis serves as a precursor to the upcoming project. Urban context and legibility are to be identified and analysed. A combination of site documentation, site analysis and precedent studies are produced in a group for submission.
Through this assignment, an idea of urban context was established. Further analysis of the context was carried out and understood, elements of legibility was also determined.
Project 2 Community Library
In this final project, a community library is to be proposed on a selected site based on the previous project. Urban context and elements of legibility is to be included in the design and justified. An urban infill direction was to be taken in the design process with the inclusion of immediate site context. Issues regarding the chosen site is to be identified and solutions through design are to be justified. I have chosen Site A, as it contains high potential for a community library to be fully utilised based on rich cultural elements in the immediate proximity.
An urban infill design with elements regarding site culture was integrated through programs in the library. Elements of legibility was used in identifying and solving certain site issues. Safety concerns was identified and justified with the proper design code and regulations.
