Building Materials

BUILDING MATERIALS  ARC 1512

Building materials in an introduction to the visual and physical properties of various building materials. It also includes environmental debate by including energy saving and recycled materials. This module aim to ensure the correct application, suitability of materials used in construction of a building.

Project 1a: “Space Out- the material CUBE” 

In this assignment, we are to create 2 cubes. Each using different types of materials. This acts as an introduction to different materials and its own unique properties in construction.
We are tasked with creating a paper cube and a wooden cube. For my cube I've used cardboard for paper and Balsa wood for the wooden cube.

Project 2: “Materiality of SPACE: An experiential exploration”

In project 2 we are tasked to make a research and an analytic observation of a chosen place about the materials used there. Plus the reason behind the using of certain materials at the proposed site.

2A

In 2A, we are to form a group of 5 to carry out the task of making an analytic observation and research of our site. We have chosen Library, Mid Valley as our study site. 

2B

Task 2B is the individual analysis of the materials used on the particular site. We are required to study and analyse the reason of materials used and how it affect the mood and atmosphere of the site.

Reflection

In this module,  I've been exposed deeper into the usage of various materials used in construction. I've understood the usage of different kinds of materials and how each material influence the construction of  a building.
